Correspondence, biographical data, historical writings, poetry and other papers of Sister Mary Loretta Hughes, who taught school and served inseveral administrative positions with the Sisters of St. Joseph. Much ofher devotional writing and poetry relate to her work as Mistress of Novices. Correspondence with the New York State Education Department and withalumnae of St. Joseph Academy relate to her work as Directress of the Academy, 1895-1912, 1917-1922, including planning for the relocation of the Academy from Flushing, Queens, to Brentwood, L.I., 1903.
